At Pickcode, we care deeply about the importance of protecting student data privacy. Our commitment to upholding the highest standards of data security and privacy is a necessity in our efforts to empower K-12 Computer Science teachers and students.
Personally, as a parent, I know firsthand the concerns that come along with my children having an online presence. Those concerns are constantly evolving as the proliferation of and access to digital tools accelerates for younger and younger ages. The digital identity of my children truly matters to me now because in the future it will truly matter to my children. They lack the knowledge or capabilities to manage it themselves today, so I hold safeguarding it for them as a top priority.
Professionally, my background includes working at Palantir, an enterprise software and A.I. company trusted by the world’s most important institutions. In the technology community, Palantir is renowned for its leadership in digital privacy and civil liberties (PCL) engineering. The company developed sophisticated privacy protection mechanisms and policies to ensure that mission-critical and highly sensitive business and personal data is handled with the utmost care and security. The company’s PCL Engineering team is second to none - they’re really terrific at what they do.
This dedication to privacy at Palantir has profoundly shaped our approach to data security at Pickcode. By incorporating similar principles and best practices into our platform, we aim to provide a secure and private environment for K-12 students and teachers who use Pickcode’s platform.
With this in mind, we are proud to announce that Pickcode has joined the Access 4 Learning (A4L) community as a premium member. Access 4 Learning is an organization committed to improving digital privacy in education and fostering a secure environment for student data. Our membership in A4L reflects our unwavering commitment to student data privacy, and our determination to both align with best practices and set higher standards in education.
By joining A4L, Pickcode is taking further steps to ensure that our code editor for K-12 students is not only a powerful CS education tool, but also a safe and secure platform. We will be working closely with the A4L community to stay updated on the latest advancements in data privacy and to implement these best practices into Pickcode.
