2025-2026 Year in Review
This week, we’re finishing our 3rd full school year with students using Pickcode, so it’s a nice time to look at some numbers!
First, this year 27,000 new users signed up for the platform, bringing our all time total to 47,500.
Those users created over 280,000 projects, up 98% from the 2024 - 2025 school year! Python was our most popular language with 177,000 projects created. For Python and Java code that runs on our server, this school year we had 5.06M runs vs 1.88M last year, a 170% increase.

To support all of our new users, we wrote a lot of code. We published 32 separate platform updates that addressed over 200 feature requests, performance improvements, and bug fixes.
One of the things we pride ourselves on at Pickcode is the reliability of the platform, and while we did pretty well, we did have one short outage in December because our database ran out of storage space, which our automated monitoring quickly alerted us to.
Beyond reliability, customer support is another other focus. We sent and received around one thousand emails around questions about the platform and discussion of feature requests.
Finally, feedback from our teachers. We asked “On a scale of 1-5, how satisfied were you with Pickcode this year”, and the average response was 4.6. We also asked for feedback and here are some highlights:
- “Pickcode is the best browser-based IDE I have used in my decade of CS teaching … the reliability is unmatched”
- “Pickcode has become an invaluable tool in my classroom, and I highly recommend it to any educator looking for a student-friendly IDE”
- “Other companies seem to focus on quantity of product over quality. For Pickcode, they know the quality always comes first!”
- “Their staff is second-to-none when it comes to answering my questions in a timely fashion … I would emphatically recommend this service to anyone who is teaching coding”
Overall, this was a great year for Pickcode, and we can’t wait for 2026-2027! If you’d like to contribute to next year’s stats and survey results, email me at charlie@pickcode.io and I’d be happy to chat.
