November 2026 Update
We’re already a few months into the year, and it’s been a busy one! We’ve been working through many items in our roadmap and meeting lots of new teachers. This weekend we’ll be at the CSTA New England conference and then CSTA New York the weekend after.
My favorite part of working on Pickcode is talking with teachers. None of our work would be possible without your ideas and feedback! Feel free to email me at charlie@pickcode.io to schedule a call.
Class management overhaul
As the platform has grown over the years, we've added lots of features and one of our major goals this fall is to make them work together more seamlessly. As a part of the overhaul, we:
- Added the list of classes to the main sidebar in the home screen
- Moved class settings to their own tab
- Added navigation dropdowns to the header for quickly switching between classes and assignments and toggling between an assignment’s page and the student work dashboard
- Improved the tables on an assignment’s list of students and on a student’s page that lists their work
User interface improvements
Along the same lines as the class management overhaul, we also fixed up many user interface elements with a focus on simplifying navigation and improving readability. The improvements include:
- Opening any item by hovering over its name and clicking
- Dropdowns now support typing ahead to select an element and highlight the currently selected item
- Dragging an item in a list to the bottom of the screen will scroll down the list of items
- All text and border color contrast has been increased to better adhere to WCAG accessibility standards, which improves readability on low resolution
Up next
In October we began behind the scenes work on the new assignment access management tools we’ll be rolling out incrementally over the rest of 2026. This will include:
- Scheduling assignment publish dates
- Locking assignments after a specific amount of time (i.e. lock in 60 minutes)
- Customizing what happens when students mark an assignment as done
- Assigning work for a specific set of students in a class
- Extending due dates or restricting access for specific students
You can read about our full product roadmap for the school year here.
