The school year has started! We’re excited to have lots of new teachers starting to use the platform this fall, as well as welcoming many teachers back for another year.

This month, we’ll be running a series of “office hours” for teachers to learn about the platform or ask questions. Feel free to come by whether you want to start a Pro subscription or simply have questions about using the platform or CS teaching in general.

Improved file drag and drop

We’ve improved how the drag and drop system works in the file editor to make it more intuitive and easier to navigate. Folders now automatically open when you hover over them, and they there is a larger area for dropping a file into the folder. Let us know how you like it and if you have any feedback for improvements!

Unlimited graphics projects

Previously, users on the free plan could only create five graphics projects. We’ve removed that limit so that anyone can create unlimited graphics projects, even without a pro subscription.

Upcoming goals

Our goals for product improvements this year are to improve classroom management tools, platform performance, reliability, and user experience. In particular, we are tentatively planning the following improvements:

  • Providing more options for assignment locking/unlocking and due date behavior
  • Allowing teachers to access a more detailed history of student work
  • Improving lesson/project/assignment organization features
  • Improving the speed and reliability of running code during peak traffic
  • Reducing friction in navigating the platform
  • Providing more detailed documentation, help pages, and tutorial videos

Pricing update

Existing customers who are renewing will stay with the pricing structure they signed up with.

Our pricing structure in 2026 has been $500/teacher and $5/student per semester. We will be updating prices to $500/teacher/year + $7/student per semester effective October 1. We’ll honor the pricing on any quote requested prior to October 1st. This will not effect any existing customers who are renewing. Email info@pickcode.io if you’d like a quote.

Fall conference schedule

This fall we’ll be sponsoring a few conferences and if you’re in the New England or New York, you should come and say hi!

  • CSTA New England on Saturday November 7th in Portland, ME
  • CSTA New York on Saturday November 14th at SUNY New Palz

Other fixes and improvements

  • Show students a more clear message when a lesson is locked
  • Fix issue with deleting empty folders in the main menu
  • Fix issue with previewing lessons that have readonly/locked assignments
  • Fix issue with renaming folders in the main menu
  • Fix issue with running CMU graphics programs
  • Show better error message when importing the processing library in Python projects that don’t support it
  • Rename the “Student view” button in the lesson editor to “Preview” to match the label in the main menu
  • Show clearer error message when assigning lessons that are meant to be embeddable
