January 2026 Update
Happy new year! Between shoveling snow and watching the Patriots (we’re based in Cambridge, MA), we’ve been hard at work improving Pickcode. This month we were mainly focused on bug fixes and minor improvements, and we’ll be working on bigger initiatives later on in the spring.
If you’ve been curious about Pickcode and are looking for a new platform for teaching your CS courses, I’d love to chat! Book a demo with the link below and I can show you around the platform and get you set up with a trial account.
Big list of small improvements
- Add a code editor option for turning off text wrapping
- Add an option on the class page for turning off sharing for student assignments
- Clear the input box in between code runs
- Allow users on the free plan to create C++ projects
- Allow for using animated gifs to be used in p5.js projects (files will need to be re-uploaded)
- Provide a better error message when programs run out of memory
- Remove duplicate lesson entries in main menu search results
- Prompt users to log in if they try to upload a file while logged out
- Add a label for project type and project language on project/lesson cards
- Fix issue where lesson markdown would fail when invalid HTML tags were used
- Improve error message when users are disconnected
- Hide “open lesson” button on assignments that you don’t have edit access for
- Make the play button un-clickable when there are no valid code files to be run
- Fix issue where the page for a class wouldn’t load if you couldn’t view a lesson for an assignment
