June 2026 Update
Happy summer! We had a great school year, and hope you did too.
See us at CSTA!
We’ll be at the CSTA Annual Conference in New Orleans from July 13th to 15th. Stop by booth 400, we’ll have free mints, Pickcode stickers, and we’re hosting the Blanket Statement knitting/crocheting project at our booth!
Improved code running performance
We’ve reduced the loading time for starting Python/Java code by about 50% this month, and reduced how often code runner fail to start. We also improved the responsiveness of graphics programs, which should make animations and games run more smoothly.
New login system coming in July
In July, our new login system will go live. If you log in with a password, you’ll need to choose a new one. If you log in with Google, there should be no action required. This will keep all users logged in for much longer and fix a number of other login related issues.
Better menu for moving lessons
We’ve added a new “Move” menu on lessons, projects, and folders that works just like Google Docs. You can still drag and drop items, but this new menu will help if you need to move lots of items into nested folders.
Other fixes and improvements
- All teachers can now embed lessons, this feature is no longer in beta
- Automatically open starter code file instead of instructions.md when making a new lesson
- Fix styling for markdown nested lists as well as line spacing issues for larger font sizes
- Allow for uploading Jar files for Java projects as well as other non-text files like Sqlite databases
- Optimize platform Javascript dependencies for improved page load times on devices with slow network connections
